What’s Your Personal Motto These Days?

Successful people tend to have a variety of ways of maintaining their positive outlook during difficult or challenging times. Some have personal mission statements while others use a variety of affirmations both visual and written. Still others use psychological anchors to keep them on track and upbeat no matter what is going on around them. Some of the most successful people increase their self-improvement activities like reading good books, listening to CD’s (not music) and attending courses and seminars. And very few have what I refer to as a motto that is ingrained in their consciousness and guides their every decision, action and attitude.

What’s a personal motto? Come on, it’s just a few words that embodies your life outlook, attitudes or mindset. Over the years I’ve had several. If you have been reading these weekly tips for over 5 years you know that for several years my motto was, Business Is Booming. During my career I’ve had several. My current one is; I’m just getting warmed up!

How can a personal motto help you achieve greater success? Here a few reasons, but there are many others.

-It will keep you focused on what’s important as you go through your days and your challenges.

-It can motivate you to keep on keeping on no matter what.

-It can remind you to get back on track when you lose your way or get discouraged.

-It can make you feel proud of what you are doing and why.

-It will send a clear message to others by your behaviors and attitudes that you, and not your circumstances or environment, are in control of your life and its outcomes.

Your personal motto should be short, personal, motivating, and easy to remember and embody your every action, attitude and decision.

So why not spend some time developing a personal motto that will guide you through either these challenging times, the next few years or even the rest of your life. It doesn’t have to be permanent but it does need to represent everything you stand for, believe in, want and work towards.

My current one does all of that for me. Helps me accept adversity, overcome challenges, stay creative and find new ways to develop myself and my ideas and services to my clients and readers. You can even share your motto with people you are around; family, co-workers, friend’s even customers so they can help hold you accountable to its direction and purpose.

You Can’t Work Your Way to Wealth

Like most people, I used to think that if I just worked more, harder or longer, I’d get ahead. What I got was tired! I was recently listening to legendary master of success, Bob Proctor on his “You Were Born Rich” Seminar. He was relating a story about how, many years ago, he literally passed out from exhaustion from working too hard. It was then that he realized he needed to find a better way. I can relate to that, as I am sure you can as well.

The inspiration that he received led him to build his one man office cleaning service into a multi city cleaning company. He used the principal of leverage. Leverage is the key to multiplying your time and assets. It’s important to know however, that prior to his breakthrough idea, he’d been studying success principles and had learned the value of creating a successful image of himself. This is essential.

You can not perform at a level that is not in alignment with your self-image. If you begin to see and feel yourself as a successful person, it’s just a matter of time before you will become one. Image is the first, crucial, key in creating the life you want. However, it doesn’t end there. There are several other strategies that you can employ to speed things up.

Learn to leverage. What Bob did, was leverage his talents to build the business, providing opportunities for others along the way. Many people find network marketing an ideal way to do this. You can find a product you like, a company you believe in and begin your business with virtually no capital invested. By leveraging your time and talent you can provide opportunities for other, like-minded people and grow your business in the process. I personally know individuals who have gone from minimum wage jobs to million dollar business owners through this process.

If you are a service provider, you can hire additional freelance help to leverage your time. You might even out source the parts of your business that could be done by someone other than yourself, as a way to open up more of your time to concentrate on your core business. Many self-employed people, like me, use the services of virtual assistants (VAs), to take care of some of the administrative and other tasks that we may not be as well suited for or do not really want to be doing. This frees up our time to devote to doing those things we do well.

Another way you can multiply yourself is through networking. Getting to know other business people in your area and letting them get to know you, can be a great way to obtain new business without having to go out and search for it. There are formalized networking groups and Chambers of Commerce in virtually every city and town.

Finally, an additional way to leverage your time and assets is through passive revenue. Passive revenue is income you receive that does not require you to actually do something each time. Musicians, authors, software developers and inventors earn income this way. They use their ability to create a product, bring it to market and receive ongoing income from the sales of their creation.

Many people today are adding passive revenue through affiliate sales on the Internet through affiliate sales.

The concept behind affiliate sales is pretty simple. You find a product you like, from a company who has an affiliate program, and you resell their products to your community. For example, all of my books and programs are available to our affiliates.

Other types of passive revenue include investments of various kinds, from stocks to real estate. Which ever method or combination of methods you choose, developing ways to multiply your time and talents is the key to creating a high level of success and multiplying your income.

Remember, it all begins with creating a compelling vision of who you want to become.

Best Ways to Measure Weight Loss Progress

Oct 18th, 2008 Posted in General | no comment »

If you’re in the midsts of reaching your weight loss goals, it may seem that the scale can be a fleeting and tricky little took to measure your weight loss. Sure, the scale ultimately will help you reach your goals, but on the journey towards you goals if can be frustrating to monitor the scale on a day to day basis.

What’s wrong with the scale? For starters, it isn’t always accurate. Overall, the scale will show you weight loss, but its better to only weigh-in once a week or once a month. Water weight, fluctuations, salty foods, PMS, and ever exercise can make the scale go up. This isn’t weight, but when you’re looking for weight loss, seeing a bump up on the scale can really make us throw our arms up and want to give up.

Something that I like to do, which make seem silly is to use a pair of pants that don’t fit as a gauge. You know those pants that won’t go up past your thighs? Perfect for this! If you’re lucky enough not to hang on to too-small clothing, consider going to a thrift stop or discount store and buying a pair of pants one to two sizes to small. Try them on and photograph each week where that are sitting. As you begin to lose weight, the pants will start fitting more and more each week; show you visually that your hard work is paying off!

Keeping a log of measurements is also super helpful to keep track of weight loss. Be sure to measure accurately on each body part, and don’t leave anything out! Measure your waist, hips, bust, wrists, neck, upper arms, thighs, calves and even ankles. Keep this in a “fitness folder” so that you can watch your numbers go down. I recommend doing this every two weeks.

Finally, take pictures! I can’t tell you how many of my clients end up losing a lot of weight and never really “seeing” it. Keeping a photographic log of weight loss will not only show you how far you’ve come, but keep you motivated for the weeks to come not to give up!
