What’s Your Personal Motto These Days?

Successful people tend to have a variety of ways of maintaining their positive outlook during difficult or challenging times. Some have personal mission statements while others use a variety of affirmations both visual and written. Still others use psychological anchors to keep them on track and upbeat no matter what is going on around them. Some of the most successful people increase their self-improvement activities like reading good books, listening to CD’s (not music) and attending courses and seminars. And very few have what I refer to as a motto that is ingrained in their consciousness and guides their every decision, action and attitude.
What’s a personal motto? Come on, it’s just a few words that embodies your life outlook, attitudes or mindset. Over the years I’ve had several. If you have been reading these weekly tips for over 5 years you know that for several years my motto was, Business Is Booming. During my career I’ve had several. My current one is; I’m just getting warmed up!
How can a personal motto help you achieve greater success? Here a few reasons, but there are many others.
-It will keep you focused on what’s important as you go through your days and your challenges.
-It can motivate you to keep on keeping on no matter what.
-It can remind you to get back on track when you lose your way or get discouraged.
-It can make you feel proud of what you are doing and why.
-It will send a clear message to others by your behaviors and attitudes that you, and not your circumstances or environment, are in control of your life and its outcomes.
Your personal motto should be short, personal, motivating, and easy to remember and embody your every action, attitude and decision.
So why not spend some time developing a personal motto that will guide you through either these challenging times, the next few years or even the rest of your life. It doesn’t have to be permanent but it does need to represent everything you stand for, believe in, want and work towards.
My current one does all of that for me. Helps me accept adversity, overcome challenges, stay creative and find new ways to develop myself and my ideas and services to my clients and readers. You can even share your motto with people you are around; family, co-workers, friend’s even customers so they can help hold you accountable to its direction and purpose.
